I don’t know many fan-fictions but there are a few that are centered around the Harry Potter series that intrigue me. You can find them here, they’re all authored by G. Norman Lippert, and he tried to stay true to J.K. Rowling’s writing style. They are about Harry and Ginny’s son, James, and his experiences while at Hogwarts. The books have been subject to great reviews, and the first book of the series even has a fan-made film. The first is called James Potter and the Hall of Elder’s Crossing, the second is called JP and the Curse of the Gatekeeper, and the third is called JP and the Vault of Destinies. I’ve been wanting to read these for a while but I just can’t seem to make myself read them.
Hot Joint of the Day: Kid Cudi - “Mojo So Dope”
Latest leak off the recently re-delayed Man On The Moon II, which is now expected to drop October 26.

I need this without the dj tags.
edit: found it
Most non-fictional books are boring, I don’t read them.
Although, I do remember reading a whole bunch of lame little books about animals and nature when I was still at Park View. I read them because they were short and easy to read, but they were only worth 0.5 AR points. So I had to read a lot of books like that.

I love the Harry Potter series. It was really hard to pick only one of the books, so I just picked the first one. I read all these books in less than a week.
Today I tried bikram yoga for free with Val and my friend, Henry. Bikram yoga is the type of yoga where you do it in a 100+ degree room with 40% humidity. Let me tell you, that shit was INTENSE. I don’t think I’ve ever sweat more in my life. I thought yoga would’ve been easy, or only slightly challenging at the most, but I had the hardest time trying to get into and hold all the different poses. Not only do you have to be flexible to get into the poses, you have to be strong enough to hold yourself like that for maybe 30 seconds. I still haven’t decided if I want to keep taking these classes, it was definitely fun and a unique experience but I don’t know if i can handle working out in that heat for 2-3 times a week.

Me, 7/4

I have no idea how old I was in this picture, but I wish i still had that sweatshirt/sweatpants combo. I would definitely wear it still if I had it in my size.

Times Square, 2009
I love New York, it really is my home away from home. The city is vastly different than Chicago. Here at home, the city kinda dies after a certain time and there aren’t many people just walking around in the streets. In NYC, there is always something going on, the lights, the people, the street performers, they don’t rest. I love that aspect about NYC, its such a good change of pace. Not to mention that a few of my favorite people are over in New York or New Jersey, @malabunghole and @didiii, I’m talking about you.
PS. I know I’m a little late with today’s post, sorry.

The fucking Miami “Superteam”, this picture will continue to make me angry until the Lakers beat them in the 2011 NBA Finals. Each of them toyed with Chicago’s emotions and acted like they were actually considering coming to the Bulls, only to break the hearts of all non-Miami Heat fans. I really think that this move was premeditated and they went through the free agency process to not look like they were colluding. Here’s to hoping they don’t win a single championship during their contracts.

This one is simple, I miss my grandma. It makes me sad to think about the last few years of her life. She was in pain, she wasn’t herself, and she could hardly communicate with our family. I remember when she used to be the life of the party, always laughing and talking with everybody.

I know I just blogged about this movie the other day, but I couldn’t help myself. I watched Inception today for the second time, and I was still blown away by it. The story is good and the ending is GREAT. Also the special effects are pretty cool. I wish I could talk more about the movie but you can’t say much about the movie without giving away major parts of the plot. Anyway, I recommend that everyone watches this movie.
Agnes - The Unicorn Song (From the Despicable Me OST)
I loved this movie, and she was definitely my favorite character.

I love Chicago and I couldn’t imagine myself living anywhere else if I had the choice.
“In the darkest times, hope is something you give yourself. That is the meaning of inner strength.” - Iroh (from Avatar: The Last Airbender)
I remember hearing Uncle Iroh saying this somewhere in Book 3 and thinking, “Wow, that was deep.” I never thought a cartoon on Nickelodeon could ever be deep like that haha. To me, this quote means that you can never lose hope or your life will fall apart.
PS. Sorry this post was late, even if only by about an hour. My flight back home from NY was grounded for 3 hours =\

Best movie of the year (so far), hands down.

I remember first reading this book in 2003 as summer reading for my freshman english class and I have to say this was one of the first non-HP books that I didn’t dread reading. It is about a former student going to visit an old professor of his, Morrie. And through these visits, Morrie taught him lessons that he would never forget.
This and his other books are really quick reads and I recommend them all.

This show is so crazy. Its about a serial killer who works for the forensic unit of the Miami police. I strongly suggest that everyone tries to watch the show.

Day 01 - Your favorite song
Kanye West - Street Lights
Even though I hated 808s and Heartbreaks when it first came out, this song really stuck out to me. I think I like it so much because of the first couple lines,
“Let me know, do I still got time to grow?
Things ain’t always set in stone.”
My friend, Kevin (ndvrkevin), did this challenge a while back and I told myself I would try to do it sometime. And here I am now, finally starting the challenge. Hopefully I’ll be able to finish it.

Notorious B.I.G. x Katy Perry
Pending Lebron’s decision tomorrow, the Bulls could will* completely strike out on the Big 3 free agents (LBJ, Wade, Bosh). With those 3 off the market in terms of signing them to Chicago, I wouldn’t mind seeing the Bulls go for a shooter to help spread the floor and a nice power forward who has a good pick and roll game. There are still some pretty good players left in the free agency, there’s still Ray Allen, JJ Redick, Mike Miller, Carlos Boozer, and David Lee that could fit very well with the Bulls. Personally, I want to see us go for JJ Redick and David Lee. I want those guys because Ray Allen is past his prime and is going to be and afterthought in a year or two and Carlos Boozer isn’t very durable (I wouldn’t mind getting him, I just prefer Lee).
JJ Redick is underrated as a player, he can shoot the ball and play decent defense (he did a pretty good job on Ray Allen). He also has the potential to grow into great player in Chicago, in Orlando he didn’t really get the minutes he needed to evolve into a better player. If he comes to Chicago he’ll be able to start right off the bat since Captain Kirk is gone and get those minutes he needs to develop.
David Lee would be great for the Bulls because he is a very athletic PF who can run a good pick and roll. He could really benefit from play with Rose. He’s also a guy who could average 20/10 for the season just like he did last season. Noah could also benefit from having a guy like David Lee to play with. It’ll help take some of the pressure off of him to get all of the rebounds and let him do what he does best, be the hustle guy (get blocks, offensive boards, etc.)
Although getting those two would definitely be great additions to our team, we still need to get a viable backup PG because most of our guards are free agents. After signing Redick and Lee, I imagine us still having around $10 mil. to spend to fill the rest of the holes in our team.
Missing out on the big 3 may also be for the best. With Wade or LBJ on the Bulls, Derrick Rose wouldn’t develop into an elite player because he would have to defer to either one in moments that need someone to step up.
*I may have spoken too soon. The Bulls made a move that significantly changed the game. We have an agreement with Carlos Boozer for a 5-year, $80 mil. contract (even though I think David Lee would’ve been the better choice, I’m happy with Boozer). Hopefully he, Rose, and Noah will be enough to bring Lebron to Chicago.
